Lions of Gampaha Grand City got together to help internally displaced families in Gampaha City &  Suburbs due to torrential rain which we experienced in May 2010. We worked very closely with both Holy Cross Church and Medagama Temple to prepare and distribute cooked meals for these families. It was a great team effort. Within the the course of the day, we were able to make 1066 lunch packets and distributed the same among affected families.

Distribution of cooked meals was a tough task due to lack of access routes. some were blocked due to fallen trees, and some were fully submerged. In certain places water level had risen above 6 feet. In such places we had no choice but to get help from third party boat services to distribute cooked meals.
