Noche de Fiesta en Schertz

The Schertz Cibolo Lions Club, chartered in 2009,held our first signature fundraising event on Friday night, April 9, 2010. The event was a casino night which we called "Noche de Fiesta en Schertz." Although we were a bit tired after our event, we all agree that it turned out to be a great success, particularly given that it was our first-ever fundraising event.We rented the Schertz Civic Center and decorated it in our fiesta theme. Thevery tasty Mexican buffet-style dinner was catered by Ledbetter's, and we contracted withCasino Fun, Inc. to provide 'Em, blackjack, roulette and craps. As enticement to get folks to purchase tickets, we secured a trip to Las Vegas or a cruise and a casino party for 10 as two grand prizes. As an additional fundraiser, we purchased a 50" hd-screen television at a deep discount, and then sold raffle tickets for it. Once all the plans were fully in place, we advertised and sold tickets like crazy. In the end, a crowd of more than 125 had a great evening and we raised over $3,500.00 after expenses.initial major fundraiser behind us. It took a lot of effort and many hours of hard work, but it feels great to get ourIt feels even better to have the money for our charitable projects, which include youth and senior programs in the Schertz and Cibolo communities. We are already compiling "lessons learned" and are looking forward to an even more successful Second Annual Noche de Fiesta en Schertz!
