Proactive Lions activity ongoing in October 2011
1. Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration on 2nd October 2011
We celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi at Sri Ayyappan School,JC Nagar. The function commenced at 09:00 Am with prayer reading in Kannada, Hindi, Urdu and English by students of all religions. Followed by talks by Students on Gandhi's brief historyand Lions Club President marked the occasion in a befitting style. Thee were over 275 persons including students, members of local community, Lions and gusets of School managemen. The celebration lasted for 40 minutes and was a well timed event.
2. Road March on Plastic Eradication
A program to bring in awareness to keep away plastic bags but to use cloth bags were conducted on 2nd March 2011, on trhe day of Gandhi Jayanthi. A procession was held with over 275 members consusting of Students and teachers of Sri Ayyappan School, Lions Club members, local residents participated. The procession carring placards passed through the BPL residential area adjoining the school, the middle class residential locations of JC Nagar and surrounding areas.
The co-operation of Sri Ayyappan School principal Mr.Prakash G and his team of teachers put good effort in making the event a great success.
3. Monthly Medical Checkup camp on General Health and Diabetes
The medical camp with participation of Medical team from Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College & Hospital and BBMP-PHC was conducted at Primary Health Centre,Sulthanpalya on 15th October 2011, 3rd Saturday of the month.
The camp benefited to 74 patients of the locality. The medicines were supplied free by Lions Club.

1. Eye screening for Cataract operation and IOL implant was conducted on 13th September(2nd Tuesday of the month) at BBMP-PHC Sulthanpalya in association with Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital(AMC),Bangalore 560032. Opthal team of AMC screened 30 patients, advised 20 patients to get admission on 14th at AMC for operation on 15th and discharge on 16th, all expenses sponsored by AMC. AMC conducted one cataract operation with IOL implant and another Eye Lid swelling among the 2 patients reported at AMC. We look for co-operation from other NGO's / residents to educate the ailing vision affected patients. This will remain a regular monthly free service as for as there is response and need for it. AMC provides this service in association with Lions Club at this part of Bangalore.
2. Monthly Medical Camp was conducted on 17th September 2011 on General Medicine with Speciality Clinics Diabetes, ECG and Body Mass by Sagar Hospital,Bangalore. Sagar Medical team screened 98 patients and Lions club supplied the Medicines free in the camp.
3. Wheel Chair donation to differently abled was done by Lioness club on 24th September 2011 afternoon at a brief gathering at poroVision Asia, Bangalore 32. The beneficiaries were a mix of teen to middle age persons. The teen, beneficiary scrutinised by Lioness club is a high school student whereas the neneficiaries screened by proVision Asia are adults. All three badly needed wheel Chairs for their mobility.
