Our Service Projects
We support a Community Meal at Grace Lutheran Church for 16 years
We collect used eye glasses and hearing aids at 16 different locations. If you have some glasses that you want to recycle, you can drop them off at the Apple Valley Wal-Mart Vision Center. It is a central and well known location.
Depending on the applications, we award one or two $ 1,000 scholarships to disabled High School Seniors
We also support the High School Senior party
Twice a year we hold a food drive for our local CAC Food Shelf
When we get an application from a school nurse, we will pay for eye exam and glasses for a student
Some of our members are involved in giving blood/platelets to the Red Cross on a regular basis.
We adopted the Valley Middle Park in town
Several members can be seen helping the Salvation Army with bell ringing every year
Our Fund-Raisers
In order to support all these projects we conduct
the following fund-raisers
We start in February, as the opening to the Apple Valley Midwinter Fest, with our annual spaghetti dinner which is followed two days later with our hot dog/brats/mini-doughnuts/beverages sales
Several times a year we will sell hot dogs and brats and beverages at ACE Hardware
Since we own two mini-donut machines we have been asked to sell those morsels occasionally .
Several members sell tickets at the State Fair Midway with the Lions each summer
And right now we published our first cookbook
Some members participate in the MAC Walk, a fund-raiser for the MN. Eye Bank and Research Center
