December 2017 - Melvin Jones Award Winners
We are pleased to announce the most recent Melvin Jones Award recipients for our club. Lions Chris Neumann and Dan Neason were both honored for their years of dedicated service to the community. The awards were presented at the club's annual Christmas Party celebration. Congratulations to Chris and Dan!!
March 2017 - Club Celebrates Lion Richard (Dick) Nostrant - 50 yrs service!
Lion Dick Nostrant was celebrated at our March 7th meeting for his more than 50 years of service. Dick has been an active member in the Athens Lions Club for over half a century, and before that time, Dick was active in the Lions Club in Brazil! The club awarded Dick with a half-century service pin, and a beautifully handcrafted quilt lovingly made by our own Lion Kathy Hartman. Athens City Mayor Steve Patterson was on hand to help us commemorate this auspisious occasion.
Congratulations to Dick and thank you so very much for your years of dedicated service!
May 2016 - Athens Lions Club Featured in BACKDROP Magazine
The Athens Lions Club was featured in the Spring 2016 issue of Backdrop Magazine. The article, "Seeing A Need" by Emily McIntyre, as part of their regular "The Drop" section, described recent activities of the club and how the club is facing the challenge of a shrinking membership base (which is happening to all social clubs in America). June 2015 - Melvin Jones Award
Lion Rich Newmann is the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for his service to the Athens Lions Club. Prior award winners include: Lion Tim Hartman, Lion Kathy Hartman, Lion Jim McLaren, Lion Brian Shaprio and Lion Dick Nostrant.
