Ballston Spa Lions Club Music Park At The Old Iron Spring

An eight year old girl is having a difficult time seeing the blackboard at school but her parents do not have the money to take her to the eye doctors. A 45 year old man falls on the ice and breaks his eyeglasses and has to “make do” with an old pair of glasses because he does not have the money to buy new eyeglasses. A 70 year old woman on a fixed income needs cataract surgery but falls in the gap between Medicare and Medicaid coverage. An 85 year old man cannot listen to television because his hearing is not as good as it once was.

What do these 4 individuals have in common?

The answer is the Ballston Spa Lions Club.

The 8 year old girl was referred to the school nurse who worked with the Lions Club to arrange for an eye examination and new glasses.

The 45 year old man contacted the Lions Club directly and the club was able to help him buy new eyeglasses.

The cataract patient was also referred to the Lions Club through her eye doctor. The club was able to arrange for the surgery with a local ophthalmologist at a discounted price and the club also paid for the surgery.

The Glens Falls Association for the Hearing Impaired and the Saratoga Speech & Hearing Clinic – Lions Loan Library both Ballston Spa Lions Club supported organization were able help the 85 year old man choose hearing devices that would improve his hearing.
