Lion Roger Hesson

10/11/37 - 7/30/11

Lion Roger was a Barboursville Lions Club member for nearly 40 years.  During that time he served as president of the club three times and held other offices in the club.

He also served as zone chair with District 29-0 prior to his becoming Vice-District Governor and then District Governor for the district.

Over these many years as a Lion, he also served on the state level as a sight trustee for the West Virginia Sight Conservation Foundation.

Lion Roger and Lion Bernie were very active and involved on the district and state level, attending many district conferences, leadership schools, and state conventions.

To sum up this tribute to Lion Roger, I want to personally thank him for being a mentor to me and to many others in our club. He also was a great joy to be around, especially with his great wit and humor. Many of us will always remember his playing the role of "Elvira" at the Fall District Conference. How can we ever forget his wonderful and humorous gag gifts he gave out at our annual Christmas dinners. He really had the ability to make everyone feel good and have a good time at those dinners

Lion Roger set the bar high for all of us as Lions. He truly exemplified the Lion motto "We Serve."
