It was a very busy weekend this past weekend for the Bowmanville Lions Club. Not only was it Summerfest, which means BBQing downtown, it was also the 17th Annual Duck Derby. Our weekend began Friday night with some members BBQing hamburgers and hot dogs downtown at Summerfest, while others began the long process of matching rubber ducks to tickets. The process took about 3 hours but the pizza, garlic bread and cinnamon sticks helped.

Saturday morning was an early start with BBQ set up beginning at 8am. Our downtown BBQ was a success with many pancakes and sausages, hamburgers and hot dogs and last minute Duck Derby tickets sold.

Saturday afternoon held a very successful Duck Derby with lots of help from the 172 Air Cadets Squadron and the Municipality councillors. We would like to congratulate all the winners for this year's Duck Derby:

   Corporation Winners
      1st Place: Pine Ridge Auto
      2nd Place: Clarington Toyota
      3rd Place: Canadian Motorsport Park

   Public Winners
      1st Place: Helen Thornton
      2nd Place: Don Austin
      3rd Place: Mike Moreton

Now check out some of the fun we had this weekend.

Thank you again to everyone that bought tickets for our 2nd Annual ATV Draw. This year we raised enough money to donate $10,000 to the Salvation Army Food Bank and $2,000 to the Durham Child Nutrition Program!

Thank you to everyone that bought tickets for the 2nd Annual ATV Draw. This years winner is: Alex Strecker of Hastings, ON. We're very excited for Mr. Strecker, and equally excited to use the funds raised in the sales of the tickets to better our community.
