Welcome to Buckingham County Lions Club
Chartered in 1954, the Buckingham County Lions Club, like Lions worldwide, strive to make a difference in our community and beyond. Our main emphasis is helping the visually impaired by providing eye exams and eyeglasses to those who meet our assistance criteria.
We proudly participate in the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Project by collecting used eyeglasses that are sent to the Eyeglass Recycling Center in Roanoke for processing and distribution. Additionally, we collect used hearing aids for the Central Virginia Hearing Aid Bank. We also assist in providing information about services for the visually impaired and can assist with information about Leader Dog and similar programs.
Each year we share proceeds from Buckingham County Day, our major fundraiser, with the county's volunteer fire departments and rescue squad. Moreover, we provide monetary support for camp scholarships to Boy Scout Troop 6535, which helps with parking and litter control during Buckingham County Day. We also donate to the Buckingham County Youth League, BCHS After Prom Celebration, and other worthy causes benefiting this community. Additionally, we provide back-to-school supplies to Buckingham County Public Schools for distribution to children who need the assistance.
Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
