National "Make a Differance Day" - "Pancake Day" for the Guardian Center

$1100 was raise for the Guardian Center during a 4 hour breakfast.  Almost 300 breakfast plates were served not including refills during the Pancake Day that the club in observance of the National Make a Differance Day.  Thank you to all who came and ate all the homemade pancakes and sausage.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

White County Christmas Parade

Lion Larry Draper and family decorated and pull the float in the White County Christmas Parade.  Even our lion got dressed up for the parade.

 

Habitat For Humanity

The Carmi Lions Club is helping to get the White County Habitat For Humanity started. Tom Logan from the Rotory Club came and talked to us and asked us if we would like to help start Habitat For Humanity in White County and we said yes we would.

 

MDA And Jerry's Kids

The Lions are Collecting money on Sat. Sept. 4 at the Stoplights in front of the Library in Carmi. All the money we get go's to Jerry's Kids. Please give if you can your money is ging to help kids and adults with Muscular Dystrophy like ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

 

Fundraising Ideas

I would like to hear from you about what kind of fundraising ideas you think that the Carmi Lions should do. For example: A Calendar of Souther Illionis Scenery like Garden Of The Gods, Rend Lake, Dolan Lake and Cave-in- Rock. Or Scenery of Carmi, IL Past and Present. Or have a Chili Dinner, Ham & Beans Dinner or a Fish Fry.

I would like to hear your thoughts.

Lions Meetings

Tuesday Sept. 21, 2010

Carmi Lions met Tuesday night at the Lions Den.  President Don Winkleman would like to remind the community that next Tuesday the club will be packaging and sending in used eye glasses, soda can pull tabs, used cell phones, old ink cartridges and old keys.  If anyone would like to donate any of these items you may drop them off at any Lions Club drop boxes or any club member before next Tuesday.  The club's annual Candy Day will be October 1st at the 3 way stop light from 10 am to 6 pm.  If you would like to join the Lions Club and be a part of helping your community, come to one of the meetings.  Lions meet every Tuesday 6:30 pm at the Lions den located at Bradshaw Park beside the tennis courts.
Linda and Uzell fixed the club sloppy joes, potato salad, coleslaw with yellow and chocolate cake for desert.

Tuesday Sept. 28, 2010

Carmi Lions met Tuesday night.  Lion President Don Winkleman would like to send a very large "Thank You" to the community for their donations of eye glasses, lenses, soda pop tabs, hearing aids, cell phones and used keys.  The club boxed up 350 metal glasses, 166 plastic glasses, 172 pairs of lenses, 8 hearing aids, 17 cell phones, 9 pounds of used keys and 14 pounds of soda pop tabs.  The club will be collecting money this Friday October 1st for it's annual Candy Day.  The club will be at the corner of Oak and Main St. from 11 am until 6 pm.
Linda and Uzell fixed smothered steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cottage cheese, peaches with chocolate and coconut cakes for desert.

Tuesday June 28, 2011

The Lions of Carmi, IL will be swearing in their new Officers for the 2011 - 2012 year. The new President of the Carmi Lions will be Donnie Paynter.

Our Meeting for Tue. June 28th
The Carmi Lions helped roof the Habitat House. The Carmi Lions will be serving Pancaks and Texas burgers Sat. July 2nd at the Car show in the Baptis Church parking lot.

 

Tuesday July 5, 2011

The Lions will be cooking Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and having Chips and Drinks for the 4-H Fair Tue. July 12 at the Fairgrounds in Carmi. On Sat. Oct. 29 the Lions will be presenting AAPW Wrestling at CWCHS.

Tuesday Aug. 9, 2011

The Lions have adopted a new pet. We will be asking the grade schhools to help with the nameing of it. The winning class will get a pizza party. The new pet will be in all of the White County parades. Come to the parades and see our new pet. We will be announcing the winning class and the new pets name at Corn Day. Our next meeting on Tue August 16 will start at 6pm instead of 7pm.

The Lions Club met at 6:00 pm insted of 6:30 pm due to working on the Lions Club Parade float tonight.

We are Voting on New officers for the club on Tue Feb. 14th. So be
there if you are a Member of the Carmi Lions Club and want to vote.

Pancake Breakfast March 10th 7-10am $5.00

 
April 6th is our Diabetes Awareness Campaign Day.

Our Club is celebrating 60 Years of Lionism here in Carmi on Sat June
23rd at the American Legion.

Meeting on Tue. Feb 21st will Start at 6:00pm Insted of 6:30pm so we
can work on the Club parade float after. We will meet at Hale Body
Shop after the Meeting.

Next Meeting Tue Feb. 14th at 6:30pm.

Tri-Club Meeting Thurs Feb 16th 6:30pm. Hosted by the Carmi Kiwanis Club.
