The Chestermere Lions Club is a busy Club. Through the generosity of everyone who supports our Projects, we are able to give back to our community and other Lion's supported activities. Here are a few of our ongoing projects.

  • Chestermere Food Bank: The Chestermere Lions Club was instrumental in setting up the Chestermere Food Bank and supporting it financially. For many years, Club members also helped the Food Bank volunteers pick up and sort food. We are proud that the Food Bank is now a self sufficient organization.
  • Annual Pumpkin Patch: Each October, the Chestermere Lions Club host an event called the Lions Pumpkin Patch. It is a fun event where both children and adults pick their special pumpkin for Halloween. Over the years, this event has grown into a fun family day filled with picking the perfect pumpkin, story time provided by the Chestermere Library, games, family pictures against a backdrop of the beautiful Alberta outdoors, and the Lions Club provides hot chocolate, coffee and hotdogs.
  • Charity Casino: The next Charity Casino fundraiser will be held early in November 2015. The Lions Club shares in the proceeds from the Casino and donates it back to the community through various Club donations.
  • Blood Donor Clinic: The Alberta Blood Services blood drive is held once per quarter (usually the first Monday of the month). Our Club members provide hands-on support handing out juice and cookies, and we enjoy visiting with the people after they donate blood.
  • Waterfest Beer Gardens: In partnership with the Town of Chestermere, the Lions set up and operate the beer gardens at John Peak Park during the Chestermere Annual Waterfest. This is one of our major fundraisers. Proceeds go to the community and local Lion's activities.
  • Pancake Breakfast at the Fall Fair: A tradition at the Chestermere Fall Fair is the Chestermere Lions delicious pancake breakfast. It is a fun day for both the Lions and the people at the Fall Fair.
  • Family Day Chili Cook Out: Another annual tradition held in February on Family Day.  A time for families to get together and unwind with some Chili and Buns down at the rec centre along with other events and activites.
  • Energizer Night: Held in September and January, we are out to promote the Lions Club and what we do for our community.
