LIONS CLUB OF CHRIST CHURCH WEST

The Lions Club of Christ Church West consists of a small but dedicated group of individuals who are committed to serving the community.

It was 1992, when Lions Club International decided to end its Lioness Club program.   The then Barbados South Lioness Club took the option to form a new Lions Club.  So it was on the 25th of November, 1992 that the Lions Club of Christ Church West was chartered.

The Charter President was Lion John Bourne, the guiding Lion Carl Browne and the Sponsoring Club was Lions Club Barbados South.

The Lions Club of Christ Church West works extensively with the elderly, including hosting luncheons and picnics for seniors, donation of food and toiletries, gifts for birthdays and at Christmas.  On a yearly basis the club donates graduation prizes to five schools in our area. We also donate stationery to these schools to be distributed among the students.

In recent years we have been promoting healthy eating habits within schools, we had a Nutritionist address the Class 3 and 4 students at one school and distributed fruits to the students of two Primary schools.  We also participate in the “Christmas Cheer” program at Sheraton Mall which caters to kids from the island’s Children’s Homes.

The club takes part in the “pink ribbon” drive to raise breast cancer awareness.  We plant trees on Arbor Day, collect eye glasses to be recycled and many other activities aimed at improving the lives of the less fortunate.
