Music Scholarship Program  

Known as the James A. Bland Music Scholarship Program, this program is open to vocalists and instrumentalists who are elementary through high school students, including home schooled children, who live or go to school in Clarke County, to participate in this competition.  Please contact Lion Sharon Hart at s.hart@erols.com for more information on the 2018 competition which will be held in February 2018.  Winners at the Club level will move on to performances in the Winchester area, Harrisonburg, and at the Lions of Virginia State Convention which will be held in Richmond in May where they will compete for scholarships from $1000 to $2500.

Service Projects

Our service projects and donations focus on support for the blind and visually impaired, deaf and hearing impaired, youth, community, and the environment.   Examples of some of our service projects provided at no cost to the recipient include

  • KidSight Vision Screenings
  • Vision, Hearing, and Glaucoma Screenings and Exams
  • Support to Leader Dogs
  • Remote Area Free Medical Project -- Wise County
  • Support to Local Fire Companies
  • Support to Local Food Banks
  • Annual Scholarships for Clarke County High School Graduating Senior
  • Christmas Party for Community Youth
  • International Youth Camp
  • Eye Glasses and Hearing Aid Recycling
  • Stamps for the Wounded
  • Lions of Virginia Eye Bank
  • Lions Leader Dog Program
  • Lions of Virginia Humanitarian Relief
  • Support to the Winchester Apple Blossom Grand Feature Parade
  • Welcome to Clarke County Chicken BBQ for Visiting Exchange Program Students

 Fundraising Projects

Our Fundraising projects enable us to successfully conduct our service projects.  Our major fundraisers include

  • Tee Off for Sight Golf Tournament (June)
  • Grand and a Hafl Cash Party (March)
  • Broom Sales (Continuous)
  • Shrimp Sales (October, November and December -- See Club Fundraisers page)
  • White Cane (Spring)
