Brief History

The Colfax Lions Club was organized under the sponsorship of the Jena Lions Club on November 3, 1930, with twenty members.  Instrumental in its charter was former publisher of the Colfax Chronicle, Mr. J.P. Wade.  District Governor J. L. McInnis of Minden presented the charter to our first President, Mr. R.J. Bienvenue.  The club was the 1950th club in the nation.

Today the club has more members and many projects in which it is involved.  We still participate in our trademark Eye Glass Collection and Lions Camp donation.  This summer we will also will sponsor a local diabetic child to the Lions Camp. We also recently awarded a $500 scholarship for an outstanding Senior that will attend college and major in the medical field through club funds. Our club was also insturmental in the donation of picnic tables to Montgomery High School.  For the children of our community, we also host a yearly Easter Egg Hunt in Colfax. These goals are accomplished by monies raised with our annual Rose Sale, Fun Run, and Bass Tournament. As Lions, were are always here to serve you!
