Columbia Lions Peace Poster Contest

This year at a H. W. Porter School assembly, winner Amelie Lopez and runner-up Gracelyn Pare were present checks from the Columbia lions Club.

Each year, Lions Clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. For 32 years, more than four million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest. The theme of this year’s poster contest is "Journey of Peace". The images represented in the artwork reflect the artist’s view of a Journey of Peace.

The winning posters will be on display at Saxton B. Little Library during the month of January. All H. W. Porter School posters will be available for viewing at the Columbia Beckish Senior Center during February.

The Columbia Lions would like to thank the H. W. Porter School Administration, Enrichment Teacher, Sandy Rijs, and especially Art Teacher, Katherine MacDonald, for her artistic guidance with the students. Their continuing efforts make this annual contest a success.
