
What the Colwich Lions have done since January 2010

The Colwich Lions Club collects used eyeglasses for people in need. Please drop off your used eyeglasses in the boxes located at businesses throughout the city. We have collected over 230 pair of glasses since June of 2009.
-April 21, 2012 City Wide Cleanup Day. The Colwich Lions Club manned a hazardous waste collection site during the city wide cleanup day.
-December 10, 2011 Ring Bells. The Colwich Lions Club rang bells for the Salvation Army during a 10 hr. period, generating donations for that organization.

-December 3, 2011 Annual Santa Visit. The Colwich Lions Club Sponsored the annual Santa Visit. Decorated the City Council meeting room, provided Santa and Mrs. Claus, cookies, punch and collected donations to help needy families in Colwich.
-November 27, 2011 Annual Tree Lighting. The Colwich Lions Club sponsored the annual tree lighting and caroling in the Veterans Park. The Colwich Lions Club also collected coats. The event was well attended.

-November 9, 2011 Food Handlers Class. The Colwich Lions Club sponsored a Food Handlers class. There where 90 people that attended the class.
- September 24, 2011 Colwich Heritage Festival. The Colwich Lions Club had a float in the Heritage Festival parade. The Club also sold brats, hot dogs and hamburger meals, the meal included chips, a cookie and a drink. The Club also had a chicken poop bingo both at the festival. The Club made a donation to the Heritage Festival committee for the evenings fireworks. All of the proceeds from the sale of meals and the chicken poop bingo will be used to fund community projects.

-August 2011 Installation Of New Officers. At the August meeting The Colwich Lions Club installed new officers for the 2011/2012 year. The new officers are Bob Lies is President, Mark Hinkle Treasurer, Bret McGee Vice President, Angie Banz Secretary, Julie McLain and Roxanne Wright are co-chairing the membership director position, Sandy Hinkle is the Tail Twister and Marilyn Lies is the Lion Tamer.

-June 27 - July 4, 2011 Colwich Lions Club Fireworks Stand. We had a successful fireworks stand in Colwich this year. The Colwich Lions Club would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped with the Lions Fireworks Stand. We wouldn't have had the success that we did, if it weren't for all of our volunteers. The proceeds from the sale of the Fireworks will be used to fund community projects.
- June 2011 Renwick Education Foundation Golf Tournament. The Colwich Lions Club sponsored a tee box at the Renwick Education Foundation Golf Tournament.
- 2011 Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up. The Colwich Lions Club had scheduled a highway clean-up for April and October. The club will clean-up a two mile section of highway north of the city to K-96.
- January 2011. The Colwich Lions Club made a donation to the Planeview sight clinic that is part of the Hunter Health Clinic sight project. This clinic will provide much needed sight screening and eyeglasses for people in and around the Planeview area.
-Adopted 3 local families who needed assistance at Christmastime, by providing toys and personal items, and food.
- December 11, 2010. The Colwich and Maize Lions Clubs Rang bells for the Salvation Army during a 10 hr. period, generating donations for that organization.
-December 4, 2010 The Colwich Lions Club Sponsored the annual Santa Visit. Decorated the City Council meeting room, provided Santa Claus, cookies, punch and collected donations to help needy families in Colwich.
- November 28, 2010 The Colwich Lions Club will provide a community soup supper at the Sacred Heart Rec. We will collect free will donations that will go to the Colwich Clobers 4-H Club. After the soup supper we will have the annual tree lighting and caroling in the City Park.
-October 2, 2010 Participated in the Colwich Heritage Festival. Again in 2010 the Colwich Lions Club had a float in the Heritage Festival parade. -July 17, 2010 Several Lions members assisted WESTAR with the building of the pedestrian bridge in the East Park.

-May 31, 2010 Assisted with the Veterans Memorial Dedication by cleaning the park, and providing donuts and selling lunch as a fundraiser for future projects.
-February 14, 2010 Provided the KS Lions Sight Foundation Health Screening Unit during a major local event to provide free screenings to approx.40 people.
- 2010 Joined the Adopt A Highway program and adopted 2 mi. of local road.

Dues:
A Single person will pay a one time entrance fee of $25, plus $40 that is due on July 1st and January 1st.
A Couple will pay a one time entrance fee $25, plus $70 that is due on July 1st and January 1st.
