The Lions year
Car boot sale April
Each year the Deeping Lions hold two car boot sales to boost the charity funds. These are held at the Deeping St James community primary school and are done with the co-operation of the school benefiting both groups

The Deeping Lions Carnival 3rd July
This famous event has been going for over 100 years (although records show a “towngate feast” from some time in the 1200’s). The Deeping Lions were asked to take it over from 2005 and we have been growing the event each year into something we hope has become a major event in the towns social calendar with approx 4,000 people either taking part or attending last year’s event when we hosted the American civil war society’s battle re-enactment group complete with cannons, horses and feats of daring-do.

As 2010 is the 800’th anniversary of the Deeping town charter we are putting on a medieval event which we hope will be even more spectacular than ever.

Duck Race September
This year we ran the “world famous” Lions Deeping duck race with 3,000 plastic ducks battling valiantly down the river Welland and against the wind to see who would come in first winning their sponsor a cheque for £100. We also ran a couple of other races for The Estate Agents and the Publicans aided by the Welland Canoe Club as the small number of ducks were no match for the gusts of wind. The winners were Wentworths for the Estate Agents and The Deeping Stage for the Publicans.
The event for 2011 we hope to make even bigger with even more ducks and twice the fun. Come along and support us, you know you want to.

Car boot sale September
The second car boot we hold before the end of the summer and allows to get rid of all the bits we’ve collected probably from the last boot sale.

Christmas market Nov
We always join the Deeping town council in attending the towns Xmas market with our sleigh and a stall promoting the work we do and raising even more money.

Sleigh 9th – 24th December
From the beginning of December it’s all hands to the pump getting the sleigh ready for its annual runs in and around Deeping and the surrounding villages. This is our biggest fundraising event for the year and the time we really enjoy seeing everyone getting in the Xmas spirit and celebrating the arrival of the man in Red.

Then we have a rest.
