HISTORY/ LOCATION OF DIGBOI LIONS CLUB
The inception was rather accidental. It was Rusi B. Gimmy owner of Calcutta wing of SELVEL who mentioned to Jagdish Phookan about the existance of Lions Club and its activity. K.B. Kanuga was the prime mover and Jagdish Phookan was the main spirit behind formation of the club. The Digboi Lions Club was chartered 19th September 1958. Mother or sponsoring club was the Lions club of Calcutta. Its first charter president was K B Kanuga. The oration of Lions Pundole and Minoo Engineer from Lions Club Bombay(1st club of India) carried the crowd. The added attraction of that evening was Dr. Bhupen Hazarika the well known singer.

IN APPRECIATION
Lionswap the ISP provider for Lions Web Sites has been set-up by the Lions of Turkey (MD118). Work on the programmes/script used to compile Web Pages has been the work of Dr. Enzar Tore of the Canakkale Lions, also of Turkey. The Lions Club of Digboi consequently displays the national flag of TURKEY on their site as a sign of appreciation of their work/efforts.
