Meetings

Hello my name is John Hennessy and it’s an honour and privilege for me to be given the position of Dundalk Lions Club President for the year 2018/2019.

The Lions motto is ‘we serve ‘and I will promise to uphold that motto and indeed will add to it by saying

‘We serve better together ‘

Dundalk Lions Club is a charitable organization fully funded by our members who have to pay a yearly subscription so all the funds we generate will go to local charities. Our projects include Meals on Wheels when we distribute up to 80 meals every few weeks to local people.

We have talking news papers for the visually impaired when we record the news from the local papers on to CD format and send them out to people and in conjunction with this we have a Radio programme called ‘ Dundalk Lions @your service ‘ every Thursday on local radio Dundalk FM 97.7.

Every Wednesday we have our Bingo session in the Clan Na Gael Hall on the Ecco Road. The Club’s biggest event is at Christmas when we distribute up to 250 food hampers to the less well off in the Dundalk area.

In September we have our yearly trip for the senior citizens and Alzheimer’s carers when we take 120 guests on a well deserved break to the West of Ireland, all of this is not possible without the generous support of the people of Dundalk  and I thank you so much for that.

Finally I would like to thank our outgoing President Gerry Campbell for a most successful year as President and if you would like to join or know more about Dundalk Lions Club please see our website or contact us on our Facebook page or write c/o the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk.

Kind Regards

John Hennessy
