Over 100 swimmers took part in our Swimathon 2017. Organisations and charities who entered teams and will benefit from the money raised include the Mayor's Charities represented by Eastbourne Otters, the Salvation Army and Eastbourne Swimming Club), Eastbourne Mothers Union, Friends of Demelza (Hailsham & Uckfield), Hailsham Swimming Club, Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance represented by Beds Prep School, 3rd Eastbourne Cubs, St Wilfrids Hospice represented by the Nemos, Eastbourne Special Olympics Team, Fatfleshed, 3rd Eastbourne Boys Brigade and Eastbourne Lions Club.​
​Lion President Graham said "Bob Wickham and I started this event over 20 years ago and once again it turned out to be a great fun evening. I would like to thank all those who took part including the swimmers, lifeguards and helpers and the Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne for her enthusiasm and encouragement".​

Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival Saturday 27th May 2017

We took part in the Sunshine Carnival and the sun shone brightly, we had a great time !

Annual Senior Citizens Outing and Tea Party


Our Festive Programme included Tombolas, Street and Christmas Sleigh collections & we raised more than £6,000.  A big thank you to everyone who supported us.

Garden Party June 2016

Lion Alec Stephens and his wife Betty raised over £412 at their Garden Party held over Armed Forces weekend. The sum raised was divided between the Eastbourne Lions Charity Trust and SSAFA who support Armed Forces (both Regular and Reserves), veterans and their families. The event was blessed with perfect weather to accompany the excellent cakes, strawberries and cream, teas and coffees

Easter Egg Draw 2016

The Easter Egg Draws held at 25 establishments raised over £1,700 we wish to thank all the proprietors, managers and their customers for helping us to help others.

Shinewater Park Get on Yer Bike Challenge

The Shinewater Park Get on Yer Bike Challenge took place on Sunday 24th May 2015. This was a sponsored bicycle event raising funds for Hazel Court School for children with complex needs. Donations may be made via our Justgiving text account (see below).

Christmas Activities 2014

May we thank all those who gave so generously to our Christmas Appeal. Not forgetting the staff at Eastbourne Borough Council, Wealden District Council and Langney Shopping Centre who granted the necessary permissions for us to collect. We raised nearly £3,500 from our Christmas Sleigh and festive tombolas.

With donations from supporters such as you we will continue to help where help is needed – in our community and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy. 

Swimathon 2014

The trophy for the highest amount of sponsorship collected went to Bedes School, who swam to raise money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. They also collected a cheque for £1170.40 on behalf of their charity. Further trophies and cheques where presented to The Mothers Union, Special Olympics and Ocklynge Junior School (swimming to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer).
This year 16 teams swam to raise a total of £7475.10, which went to their own good causes as well as the Eastbourne Lions Charitable Trust. The Lions would like to thank all those who helped with this event, especially the Eastbourne Voluntary Life Guards.

Other fundraising events include:

We assist the Sovereign Disabled Swimming Club with their Annual Gala and the Zone at It's a Special Knockout and work with local schools and youth groups. 

In 12th April 2015 in conjunction with Bob and Rowena Gausden, once again our club assisted with the Disabled Swimming 'Fun Gala’. Taking part in addition to The Sovereign Swimming Club for Disabled People were The Haywards Heath Dolphins. Three teams took part and it was the visiting team from Haywards Heath finally taking The Ann Gray Memorial Trophy.
The trophy was again presented to the winning team by Kate Smith the niece of our late club member Ann Gray. Kate, together with her husband Paul, had travelled down to Eastbourne from Surrey specifically to attend the event. The presentation of medals to all participants was undertaken by Eastbourne Parliamentary Candidate Stephen Lloyd.

Its a Special Knockout 2017 with Mayor Cllr Hearn and the Special Olympics Eastbourne Team


We also have fun which includes various social events such as Eating Out, BBQ, Beetle Drive, Toad in the Hole, Quiz Night etc.
