EVENT CALENDAR for 2013/2014 for the East Granby LIONS

(SAVE THE DATES).

NOTES:    We will be accepting donations for the East Granby Food Pantry at all dinners, breakfasts and other programs.  Bring one non-perishable item or bring a grocery bag full according to your inner guidance.

At all of our functions, we will be accepting donations of used eyeglasses, used or new sunglasses, and used hearing aids for the LIONS International recycling program that processes them for reuse in developing countries.  We also have drop boxes for this purpose in EG Town Hall, Granby Pharmacy, Suffield Bank in East Granby and Hair It Is Salon.  Such boxes can be placed in other locations on request.

East Granby Senior-Community Center is at the intersection of Center Street and Memorial Drive in the Town Hall/Fire House/Ambulance/Library Complex.

East Granby Farms is at 83 North Main Street (CT Rt. 187).   The Viets Silo and white fencing is the identifying landmark.

GIO's Restaurant is in the Center Shops Strip mall at the intersection  of CT Rt. 187 and CT Rt. 20.

Coming 2013/2014 Events:

PLAN ON BEING THERE FOR OUR FIRST ANNUAL RUBBER DUCK DERBY & RAFFLE

We have devised new fund raising project which has been approved and is now scheduled for 13 JUL 2013 at Granbrook Park, Granbrook Park Road (Off Hartford Avenue alias CT Rt. 189) to benefit our many sponsored charities and youth activities.

Plans are in process for our first annual Rubber Duckie Race/Raffle at Granbrook Park on Saturday 13 JUL 2013 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Beside the opportunity to buy a raffle ticket (which reserves a Rubber Duck marked with the matching number) from any member of East Granby LIONS Charities, Inc., there will be fun and games for kids of all ages, a pig roast, and live musical entertainment are planned

Planned DUCK SPLASH-DOWN is 1:30 PM and preliminary tests show that it will take about 7 minutes from launch to finish line.  First four ducks to cross the finish line win the indicated prizes for their sponsors.

PRIZES TO BE AWARDED:

1st $500.00 VISA Gift Card

2nd $250.00 Geissler’s Gift Card

3rd $150.00 Restaurant Package

($50.00 each at J&G’s, GIO’s, Cracker Barrell Pub)

4th Two Dinner Tickets for our Fall Turkey Dinner

If there is enough interest, we will bring our food trailer to the park and sell hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments.

Reserved and pre-numbered rubber duckies will be launched from the rails-to-trails foot bridge over Salmon Brook and the first four to cross the finish line at Granbrook Park will win the prizes, in order, as printed on the tickets.

Come early and plan to make a day of it.

NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME

Contact any LION for  LIONS membership details or see any member of East Granby LIONS for an application form.

Our officers for the 2013-2014 year have been elected and will be officially installed at our installation banquet at Tower Ridge Country Club Road (on Nod Road in Simsbury) on Thursday 13 JUN 2013.

Continuing, a very great THANK YOU to all who have faithfully supported our works and who have made our fund raising events successful over the past years. If you'd like to join us, contact  for more information or contact any LIONS Member for an application form.

Remember that supporting our fund raising functions is supporting all of the East Granby and other charitable organizations that we sponsor or support (listed elsewhere on this page). We thank everyone for their continued interest and support.

Also, remember that all LIONS Clubs accept used or outdated prescription eyeglasses (and also hearing aids and cell phones with batteries removed) for recycling.  This includes sunglasses  - both perscription and non-perscription - because dark glasses are needed after certain eye-surgeries.

Also recyclable are discarded cell-phones with memory cards and batteries removed.

Collection points are EG Town Hall, Granby Pharmacy, Suffield Bank in East Granby and Hair It Is Salon in East Granby, but any LIONS member will accept donations for this purpose or you may bring them to any one of our events.
