East Grand Forks Soccer Storage Shed

The East Grand Forks (MN) Lions Club recently purchased, constructed, and donated a storage shed to the East Grand Forks youth soccer club.  The soccer club operates on city park land. But, it otherwise has no dedicated facilities for operations or storage of equipment.  The Lions Club chose to provide the financing and labor to provide the facility to the soccer club as well as to provide increased visibility to the East Grand Forks Lions Club.

Good Samaritan Breakfast

The East Grand Forks Lions Club held a pancake breakfast and food shelf drive on Saturday, December 11 at the Good Samaritan Heritage Maples facility.  Both residents and public were invited, and the event brought in enough food and cash to allow for a generous donation to the East Grand Forks food pantry.  The EGF Club is part of Lions International District 5M11, which includes over 75 clubs in Minnesota and Manitoba.  Club President Randy Lieberg commented, “Our District Governor had challenged local clubs to consider volunteer activities and donations to local food shelves, so this was a good opportunity for us to combine a planned event with a drive to bring in food donations.  We hope to continue this with more food shelf events in the future.”

Lions Clubs International is a 1.35 million member global service club, whose main focus is vision-related causes.  Locally, the Lions participate in fund raising and other volunteer events to support both International and local needs.  The Club meets every first and third Wednesday at noon at the VFW Club in East Grand Forks.  Anyone is welcome to attend and the Lions would love to have more members in the community.

The EGF Lions served breakfast for the Good Samaritan Heritage Grove complex in East Grand Forks on September 11, 2010.  The event helped get our young Pride into game shape for future fundraisers.  Generous residents and citizens provided funds for future Lions projects even though the project as not actually billed as a fundraiser.  Thank you to the Good Samaritan Society for allowing us to hone our skills.

Blue Line Arena Mural

The Lions club recently completed a new mural at the East Grand Forks Blue Line Arena.  Lions members donated the labor.  And, local businesses donated the materials.  Thank you to everyone who assisted with this project.
