Exeter Club President Report for April meeting.

Reporting on March events includes our own District Convention AGM at Croyed Bay, North Devon. I was pleased that nearly all from the Exeter Club attended the weekend and some had an extra day on the Thursday to wind-up ready for the partying, socializing over the two or three days with the AGM on the Saturday. Always a great opportunity to hear more about Lions and meet up with friends old and new.

Prior to the Convention, On March 7th we hosted an evening at the Tally-Ho Inn with our friends from Age UK Devon and Devon MS. Two thousand pound was handed over to these worthy organisations and I would hope to be able to hand over more towards the end of the year in July. A big thank you to the venue for the supply of the buffet and the use of the space behind the bar!

There was also a little marshalling effort in support of Age UK Devon early on a Sunday morning. Thank you to all from Exeter Lions that helped and supported this event.

As part of the Exeter’s Club Commitment to the Memory Café’s, a check presentation was done and the support and money was gratefully accepted. Although I could not attend, the club was well represented.

Easter will be with us all too soon and our annual Easter egg sales are well under way. This is a good money raiser for our local charities and gives the Exeter Lions a visible face to our activities.

Not many weeks to go before we are active once again at the Devon County Show in May for our Diabetes Screening. Although this is a Zone Project, there is a lot of input from Exeter Lions in the preparation and I expect on the days at the show.

Planning is well underway for our Gala Day in July and an opportunity to celebrate the Lions Organisation Centennial. All hands and support from the club needed for this one.

Reminder of the Rugby parking on Saturday 8th April and Exeter West Charter on 15th April.

On a personal note, I thank all the club members for the input to the membership debate at the last club meeting and to that end I will be taking time at the April meeting to put together an action plan for the remainder of the year and into the next Lions year.
