Many people wonder who these 'Lions' are.  We are just ordinary people - like you - who want to help our community.  Sometimes, that help can extend to other parts of the country or even to disaster areas thousands of miles away.

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE (MiaB)

They say that some of the best ideas are the simplest, which is so true of MiaB.  Basically, it's keeping a simple note of your doctor, personnal details, contact person, any medication and even if you have an animal, in a safe place so that if you are found incapacitated at home and unable to give details, the emergency services - who all know about MiaB - know exactly where to look.  Simple, yet it has already saved a few lives.

To get one, just visit your local surgery to collect 'a bottle' which is, in fact, just a larger version of the old 35mm film cannister.  In it is a sheet which you fill in and store in 'the bottle' which in turn you store in your refrigerator. There are also two small stickers, one of which goes on your fridge door, the other you stick just inside the main entrance to your property.

If you have any problems or need more information, just email the club.

WARM ENOUGH?  With the winter of 2009-10 having already beat some low temperature records, it might be time to think about Cavity Wall and/or Loft insulation.  Exmouth Lions will be happy to put you in touch for possible FREE insulation.  Just email us for an application form, or go to the web site at www.cosydevon.co.uk.  Their freephone number is 0800 512 012

DEVON WARM ZONES  If you are over 70, our club is able to put you in touch with Devon Warm Zones (DWZ).   DWZ, working in conjunction with Devon County Council, NEA, Westcountry Energy Action and E.ON, may be able to help you with advice and financial help you may be eligible for.

WE'RE HERE TO HELP  If you think we can help YOU as an individual, or your ORGANISATION, then get in touch.  We look at all requests sympathetically then decide whether we can help - or perhaps recommend an agency better suited.

So, if you think we can help JUST ASK!
