SIGHT CONSERVATION

To start the process pick up an application at the Local DHR office. The Florence office is located at 424 Veterans Drive. Completely file in the application  and mail to the Florence Lions Club. The mailing address is on the application form. The Sight Conservation Committee will meet with the applicant or correspond by mail after reviewing the COMPLETED application.  If approved the applicant is given a authorization form for service at  a local service provider.

Some applicants are referred to Alabama Sight Conservation for procedures and assistance outside our local organization's abilities to provide.

 

SOUTHEASTERN DIABETES EDUCATION SERVICES

CAMP SEALE HARRIS

A Lions youth camp for children with diabetes operated by Southeastern Diabetes Association to help train children with diabetes to live a normal life.

This program provide needed diabetes education, motivation, encouragement, and friendships for children diaghosed with diabetes and their families 

USED EYEGLASSES COLLECTION

Collecting used eyeglasses and redistributing through the Alabama Lions Sight Conservation program. The Alabama Lions conduct a Sight Mission to Mexico each year.  This program helps many people to receive an eye exam and a pair of glasses if needed.   Many of these recipients are able to see for the first time in their lives. 

We have a collection box where you can drop off your old discarded eyeglasses at Walmart in Florence, AL

 

MEALS ON WHEELS

Local Lions Club members donate their time to deliver meals to many local area people through this program.

Meals On  Wheels can use more volunteer help. To volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program call Comunity Action Agency of Northwest Alabama @ 256-766-4330

 FUNDRAISING

Through your donations and by your purchase of products such as Mops, and Brooms from the Florence Downtown Lions Club we are able to help many people through the above projects. We are always looking for individuals like us who are willing to give of their time and resources to help others.

Helen Keller Memorial

A memorial is being built at Ivy Green in Tuscumbia, Alabama to honor Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. This memorial is expected to be completed in September or October 2017.
