2015  BIG FOOT LION’S CLUB

LOBSTER BOIL STEAK FRY

CELEBRATING OUR 32nd YEAR

Lion Andy Pearce, co-chairman of the Lobster Boil / Steak Fry. My co-chairman is Lion Joe Abell.

The Big Foot Lion’s Club will host it’s 32nd annual Lobster Boil and Steak Fry on Saturday, July 25th, 2015. This is the areas most popular fund-raiser. I call it “The Biggest Social Event in Fontana”. People come to Fontana this weekend just for the “Lobster Boil” to see old friends and have a great time. The event takes place in Fontana’s Reid park right on the lakefront. This is a beautiful place to have such an event. We start at noon on Saturday with lunch fare being served (Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soda). This is a great place for family and friends to gather throughout the day as we have live music all day long. Starting at noon we have “Al’s Blues band”. At 3:00 “Mr.Myers band” starts and at 7:00 the “Eddie Butts band” starts and plays until 11:30. In between bands and at breaks we have the band “Rock Central” playing. Continuous music all day long from noon till 11:30 at night. We have a children’s area set up by Life Of The Party with fun things for the kids. We have a beer tent serving Miller products and wine coolers. We serve white and red wine, which is a huge success and we will have it again this year. New last year to our line up in the beer tent was “Leinenkugel’s” Summer Shandi and a chance to meet one of the Leinenkugel brothers. This will be offered again this year. Serving time for dinner starts at 2pm and is served until 9pm. We offer a drive through service at the park house from 2pm until 8pm. Last year we sold over 2500 dinners with 400 of those being sold at the drive through. Last year was a record year for us.

Advance tickets are available at Sentry foods in Walworth, Chuck’s Lakeshore Inn in Fontana, from any Big Foot Lion’s club member or call Andy Pearce at 262-215-5550. Ticket prices are $34.00 in advance for Lobster, $22.00 in advance for Steak or can be purchased at the door with prices $36.00 for Lobster and $24.00 for Steak. I always tell people you are guaranteed a dinner if you buy tickets in advance, but you might not get one if you arrive late as we usually sell out around 7:30.Our Chef’s prepare the 12 to 14 oz. lobster tails as needed in our new large (Huge) boiler and the 14 oz. Black Angus Rib Eye steaks are grilled to perfection. With each dinner you will get peas, boiled red potatoes, boiled onions, drawn butter, rolls and a desert. The “Lobster Boil” was started in 1983 at the old Red Eye restaurant in Linton. The firs year we served around 150 dinners. As the event took off we moved it to Walworth and later to Reid Park in Fontana. Located across form the Abbey Resort and on the Lakefront is the best place to have an event like this. The Big Foot Lion’s club is a service organization. Our club serves Linn Township, Walworth and Fontana. Our club has around 45 members. We are always looking for more members. To join the Big foot Lion’s club contact any Lion member. The “Lobster Boil” takes a lot of work with set-up beginning at 7:30 am on Friday and clean up complete Sunday at noon. Along with our members we rely on our wives and friends to help us out. This event I would say takes around 150 volunteers to make it the success that it is. 100% of the money raised at our fundraisers goes back to the public through our contributions. Some of our recent contributions include $30,000.00 donation to the village of Fontana for playground equipment in Little Foot Playground at Reid park, a $30,000.00 commitment to Big Foot High School for a new scoreboard at the main football field, a $30,000.00 donation for playground equipment at Fontana’s Duck Pond Park, Playground equipment for Walworth’s Toynton park, A new Pavilion in the park across from Reek school in Linn Township, Life preservers for the rescue boat in Fontana, Area rescue squads, Area sports teams, 4H youth program, Scholarships, etc. Last year with the public’s support we were able to give seven - $1,500.00 scholarships. We also support Lion’s International, Wisconsin Lion’s Foundation and the B.O.L.D. program. Lion’s international is the largest service organization in the world and I am proud to be a part of it as are all of our members. Our Motto is

“We Serve”

           NEW LAST YEAR

We have purchased a new 24” x 72” stainless steel grill which doubles the grilling capacity.

With this addition and the large boiler, we have cut the wait time for dinners to almost no “wait time”.
