November 23rd, 2011- MINUTES
- Call to Order- Meeting was called to order by 2nd Vice President, Ron Thieson
- O Canada- led by Lion Peter Belyk
- Invocation was led by Lion Ted Moller
- Roll call- 15 members present
- Introduction of Guests- Guest Bernadette Bourasseau, Mona Bouchard and Susan Kerr (from Scouts).
- Approval of Agenda/Additions- Approval of agenda by Lion Rod Lindemann, seconded by Lion Ted Moller. CARRIED
- Minutes from the November 9th meeting were read. Motion to approve minutes as presented made by Lion Erin van Delden, seconded by Lion Dennis Gollinger. CARRIED

The treasurers report was given by District Governor, Lion Donna.
- The club received money from Lions Haven for the Christmas dinner as a thank you to the board.
- Approval for the scholarship to Rebecca Spence has been approved. That will come in January. Half of the scholarship comes from Lions Alberta Foundation. Next year the amount of the scholarship will double to $500 from Lions AB Foundation.
- Lion Donna moved report to be accepted as reported. Seconded by Lion Dennis Gollinger.

- Lion Ron Lindemann sent a thank you note to each supplier.

Old Business
- Christmas Party
-Lion Peter is still looking for entertainment. If none can be found Lion Ron Thieson will bring music on his laptop.
-Liquor cannot be given as a gift
-set up will be at 4 p.m. come to help if you can
-cocktails are at 6 p.m.
-Lion Donna made a motion to make the $100 deposit a donation to the Legion. Seconded by Lion Ron Thieson. CARRIED
10.2 Campground
- Update given by Lion Ron Thieson. Deal has not been signed yet, but the expectation is that it will be signed by tomorrow.
-Lion Peter added that it wasn’t able to be signed last week because we needed higher liability insurance. That has been taken care of now.
10.3 Enchanted Tree
- Lion Rod Lindemann, Lion Joah Luchkow, Lion Ted Moller and Lion Ed Luchkow set up the tree
on Monday. New lights were purchased for $34.00. Take down will need to be done around the 5th of January. We will need to set up a committee.

New Business
- Scouting presentation by Susan Kerr
- The number of members was presented. The club runs numerous fundraising events throughout the year to help cover the costs.
- They would like a member of the Lions club to be present and the Baden Powell evening.
- More crests are needed for the new uniforms.
- Lion Peter asked about hands on activities in the community- the groups plant trees and clean up the highway once a year
- Lion Ted Moller asked about the highway signs that show who cleans up that strip of highway. Susan said she’d look into it.

Lion Donna present Susan with a cheque for $500.00 on behalf of the club for the 2011/2012 groups.
- Hospital Foundation donation
- Lion Rod told the club that if we’d like to be in the grand opening book, the deadline for a donation is December 31st.

Lion Peter tabled the matter to the board meeting on December 8th. Decision will be presented to the club at the December 14th meeting.
- 50/50
- Lion Peter reported that the tickets have been selling very well.
- There are about 700 tickets left. Thanks to Lion Ed, Lion Joan, Lion Rod, Diane, Lion Pat and Lion Ted for their great sales.
- Very pleased with tickets sales at Sobeys.

Lion Rod updated the club on the sales. There are about 48 books sold. We all need to work hard to sell the rest of the tickets soon.

-DG Donna Wozney – Great Convention. Excellent presentation. Great work by Lions Team to make it successful.
-Lion Ron Thieson – new projector worked great – good for future meetings.
-Lion Pat Purves – compliments to DG Donna Wozney for chairing such a good convention.

Convention:
- Lion Donna Wozney reported casino funds - $18,300 – in the bank. $3930 of these funds will be transferred to the project account for the bus shelters.
- Lion Donna Wozney reported the “unofficial” results of the Convention:
Summary: The Convention will break even and our Club will earn some profit for our project account from catering, bartending, etc.
50/50 for December
- Lion Peter Belyk reported tickets ready for sale. Need Lions to volunteer to start sales the week of November 13. Need tables at Sobeys, No Frills and Walmart.
Lion Donna Wozney moved to accept the reports as presented; seconded by Lion Pat Purves. CARRIED.

- Lion Ron Thieson will Chair.
- Lion Donna will book catering (charge $25.00 for each guest attending)

- Chinese Gift exchange gift value $20.00
- New gift rules. Motion to restrict liquor from gifts as the ALCB rules will not allow it. Motion by Lion Pat Purvis to restrict liquor from gifts; seconded by Lion Bob Fischer. CARRIED.
- Need song sheets; Lion Peter will lead the singing.
50/50 at Edmonton Indy
- Lion Ron Thieson said Edmonton Lions were trying for 50/50 at the Edmonton Indy.
November Steve Sumka Food Bank Drive – November 26 Meeting
- Lion Rod encouraged Lions please being Boxes of Kraft Dinner. We need to exceed
last year’s 340 Boxes.
