Franklin Noon Lions Club

This group was chartered on April 30, 1987 with 20 charter members. The membership over the years has been varied and has included three Franklin Mayors, several Fire chiefs, three Aldermen, Directors of Planning, and three past District Governors, among others. The group meets at Tuckaway Country club on the 3rd Thursday of each month from September through June, during the noon hour.
Over the years, Franklin Noon Lions has had numerous fund raisers at many Franklin community events: St.Martins Fair, Food Wagon at the 4th Civic Celebration, and spaghetti dinners at the main Fire Station. In recent years fundraisers have also included the sale of a variety of nuts sold from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day. The money raised provides Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for the needy, allows the group to sponsor the Sports Trading Cards given to children by the Franklin Police Department, as well as Little League Teams, and the Eagle Scouts. Traditionally, the group participates in numerous Lion charities such as the Leader Dog for the Blind, Hearing Aids for the needy, and Project Sight. Also the Lions Camp for the Blind, Deaf, Cognitively disabled and children with Diabetes, which is free for all participants. The Franklin Noon Lion’s club also takes part in the used Eyeglass Project, and the Wisconsin Eye Bank, which harvest human eyes or cornea transplants in the U.S. as well as worldwide.
