Free Diabetes Screening Clinics: Tentative plans are being developed to having screening clinics at Franklin football games during the season. These clinics are in concert with Belmont University. Details to follow and a special thanks to to Rodney Deal for helping to coordinate these incredible, lifesaving events.
Fundraiser at Antique Car Display: Another is planned for August 28th at Carabba's parking lot after much research by Robert Smith. Lions will be selling water to participants and observers. We will assess the results of fundraiser and make modifications according to determinations.
Saddleup Fundraiser: Lions will be needed in force at a concert on Sept. 18th organized by and for Saddleup. This is an extremely worthwhile group that provides theraputic horseback riding for mentally challenged children. The event will take place at the Duke it Out farm in Franklin. There will be riding and special activities during the day and a concert featuring some of country music's greatest songwriters. This will be a worthwhile and fun event.
Graceworks volunteer days: Every 3rd Sat. of the month from 8:30-11AM. Enter through the back door ramp. We will be loading furniture for people who buy furniture during that time. It is a fun way to help others and work with good people.
Eye Screening: Volunteers needed to help for upcoming dates; to sign up - please send Susan your email and phone number for confirmations or changes. This is an incredibly fun, yet, extremely important event. Susan has be responsible for thousands of sreenings and saving the eyesight of many Franklin children. Be a part of the solution and contact Susan as soon as you can.

Sensory Garden Brick Fundraising News: Committee Chairperson, Pam Alderman and members, Donna Leedle, Rebekah Brockman, Dale Nord, and Peter Alderman.
The first order of engraved bricks are going to be ordered soon. The first 100 engraved bricks will frame the water feature. Anyone interested in being a part of this first order, hustle.
The Lions are honored to work with the Master Gardeners in developing one of the first sensory gardens for the blind in this region. This Garden will be landscaped in Franklin, TN., in the park behind the tennis and baseball complex near Grassland Elementary School.
This is the garden space in March of 2010, awaiting new construction. The center area around a new fountain will be the location for the first 100 pavers purchased.
This is a chance for your family friends, business, neighbors, church or club to be a part of history, and actually, be a permanent fixture in the Sensory Garden for the Blind. These pavers will be used as curbing, bordering the gardens. They will be a lasting statement of your generosity for all those, with or without sight, who come to enjoy the elegance and bueaty of this unique garden.
Franklin Evening Lions Club is selling engraved 4x8 pavers for $100 apiece. The cost will cover the expense of the paver, engraving and the remainder will be split evenly to help fund the sensory garden the the Franklin Evening Club Charities. The first 100 pavers will be featured near the center fountain with donors' names listed on a plaque in both writing and braille.
