90th ANNIVERSARY -- November 18, 2010
Galesburg Lions celebrated their 90th anniversary in November with a fun-filled night of friendship and camaraderie at the Soangetaha Country Club. The keynote address was delivered by Past Lions International President Kay Fukushima of Sacramento, California. Two of the club's four 2010 Melvin Jones Fellow awards were announced at the Charter Night celebration.
PANCAKE DAY 2011 - A RECORD SETTING PERFORMANCE!
Pancake Day - Friday, Feb. 11 - was a huge success. We served 1,007 people in four hours, the most in 40 years for this annual event! We signed on 36 corporate sponsors, the most ever, and once again had a live on-site radio broadcast on WAIK-FM during the morning service! Thanks to all of our sponsors, vendors, club members and customers for making this the best Pancake Day in recent years!
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWEST LION

WHO WE ARE......The Galesburg Noon Lions Club is a service-based organization of men and women committed to philanthropy through a variety of activities and events. 2010 proudly marked our 90th anniversary as the largest service group in Galesburg. Our club currently has 118 members on its roster and is always accepting new members, regardless of gender, age, experience or profession. We meet every Wednesday through the year and enjoy a full schedule of program speakers, presentations and events designed to fulfill our mission and serve the city, county and surrounding communities.
WHAT WE DO......Our club, as well as all Lions clubs throughout the world, has sight conservation as its primary mission. We raise funds to assist those in need with programs of detection and treatment for vision-related disease and have expanded to include assistance for hearing-impaired individuals as well. This comes in the form of examination, screening and treatment of vision and hearing. The club also maintains several eyeglass collection sites throughout the city.
HOW WE SERVE......Our members coordinate, staff and participate in two major annual fundraisers, Pancake Festival in February and Candy Day in October. We also sponsor a pancake breakfast at the Stearman Fly-In in September, walk in the Christmas Parade in December, provide a booth at the annual Knox County Health Fair, collect food for local pantries, purchase supplies for the health department, and ring the bells for Salvation Army.
