Donations

It was agreed to donate £100 to Longridge Hockey Club to allow them to purchase some much needed equipment.

Donations were also made in response to individual requests for two Girl Guide members towards their planned trips to Europe adding to the substantial funds that they have already raised themselves through their own initiatives.

The Lions have also agreed to sponsor one of our members doing a ‘Coast 2 Coast ‘Cycle Ride on the 24th and 25th of August from Scarborough to Blackpool (a total journey of 145 miles) in aid of Brian House Children’s Hospice

The Lions have been very impressed by the staggering response of the local community and monies given so far to the recent ‘Thumbs up for Charlie’ Appeal and have pledged a further sum of money in support.

We are still collecting for the Fylde Women’s Aid for distribution to their various centres in the region. So if you have any items to donate of new clothes ( babies, small children or ladies ); new toys, new cosmetic or new toiletry items then the collection point is the Resource Centre (the offices of the old Liberal Club) on Bridge Street.

Events and Activities

Three members of our Club have recently repainted and restocked our plant troughs in  support of Garstang in Bloom and our thanks are extended to them for doing this work.

The organisation of the car parking for the Great Eccleston Show went well over two busy days. Our thanks go to all of the other volunteers who helped and especially the significant numbers there from the North West Children’s Support Group.

Our next two major car parking ‘stints’ are at the Garstang Show on August 4th and the Scorton Country and Game Festival on September 8th and 9th with plans in place for both of these events.

The Garstang Club will be hosting the next Zone Quiz on September 28th in the Wheatsheaf Public House.

It is planned that we have our annual Bowling Evening in October and we hope to use the soon to be opened facilities at Barton Grange for this

If you want to help out or even join us then our Lions Club will make you most welcome and further information is on the web site ww.garstanglions.co.uk.

You can speak to any member about what we do or just come along to our meeting held on the third Tuesday of the month in the Royal Oak at 8.00pm.
