History

"Where there is a Need, We'll do the Deed"

Gilbert Lions Club was chartered on October 14, 1969 with 34 members after being converted from the Gilbert Boosters Club. Lion Ed Peterson of the Mesa Roadrunners Lions Club worked along with Lions Earl  Becker and Jasper Cowart (Charter President) during the conversion process. The charter night was celebrated on December 13, 1969.

The club will celebrate its 48th Anniversary this year (2017). It is one of over 46,000 clubs around the world providing humanitarian services to those in need and belongs to the International Association of Lions Clubs.

Each year the club raises funds to improve the lives of members of the Gilbert community through many projects; Scholarship, Eye Glasses for Children and Adults, Schoolbags with Stationery, Blue Grass Bash Fundraising, Garage Sale, Flags for First Graders,

Our club also supports District 21-B and Multiple District Projects; Arizona Vision Center, The Lions Foundation of Arizona, Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, Arizona International Youth Exchange and Lions Camp Tatiyee. Visit www.lionsarizona.org to learn about these projects and how you can support them.

Currently the club is among 43 clubs in District 21-B and has a growing membership of 34 among the 1.4 million global membership.
