Meetings

Glastonbury Centennial Lions Club held their Charter Night event on October 27, 2018 at The Gallery Restaurant. PID Scott Storms performed the official induction of the club members and installation of officers. It was a nice evening with dinner, raffles and presentations. Guest Speaker GAT CC Mahesh Chitnis was in attendance as well as DG Harry Schuh, IPDG Bobby Clark, and several other honored guests and dignitaries. Special thanks to our Guiding Lion Sia Dowlatshahi from the South Windsor Lions Club and Lion Nora DeLeon-Clark of the Hartford Evening Club.

We thank all those who helped make the evening memorable and enjoyable. Photographer Lion Frank Rowe of the Ledyard Lions Club did a great job of capturing pictures of the event.

The club was excited to hold its first community outreach event at the Glastonbury Apple Harvest Festival on Oct 13th & 14th. We had several Fidelco Guide Dogs on display and we collected donations for their foundation. It also was a good time to promote our new club to the community.

Our club has donated several books to the Welles Turner Memorial Library and some of our members volunteered at the Veterans Stand down in Rocky Hill in September.

We have a secured a new venue for our club meetings at the Glastonbury Riverfront Community Center where we meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. We are now eager to start planning for upcoming events in our the community and full fill the motto of the Lions “We Serve”.
