Grandview Lions are very thankful and appreciate Fort Worth Riverside Lion, Clayton Meissner. Clayton brings the eye screening equipment for use during our Back to School Fair every year. He sets up the equipment, helps us give eye exams and then packs it up until next year!

*The GV Lion’s Club is proud to be able to provide free eye examinations and evaluations for all school children ages K through grade 12 during the Back to School Fair held at the City Park at the beginning of each GVISD school year. The BTS Fair is hosted and coordinated through the efforts of many groups, churches, local businesses and dedicated individuals. During the BTS Fair, children are treated to free snacks and lunch, free dental examinations, haircuts plus a set-up of free school supplies. The event is a wonderful, family friendly event replete with entertainment from the school bands, ZZ Skippers, Zebra Strings and live music provided courtesy of some of our local area bands. There are bounce houses and fun for everyone including Mom & Dad.

We support the District 2 E2 Lion’s Organ and Eye Bank.

Zebra Strings Violin Group which is an organization provided through the GVISD, plus funded by many other supporting groups to teach elementary age children to play the violin.

ZZ Skippers, the nationally recognized rope skipping group also provided through the GVISD plus funded by many other supporting groups which promotes a healthy lifestyle for our school-aged children.

We support our Grandview Volunteer Fire Department in different ways each year.

*Grandview Lions give financial support to 'Leader Dogs for the Blind' and to the Grandview Bless the Badge Ministry.

GV Lions provide Meals on Wheels to local Grandview citizens every Thursday.

CASA of Johnson County which is the Child Advocacy program for local children from challenged families also to the Johnson County Junior Livestock Show.

*The GV Lion’s Club supports our Grandview Independent School District by hosting an appreciation breakfast for the teachers and administration at the beginning of their back to school kick-off meeting.

*Grandview Lions Club Little Dribbler’s Sportsmanship Basketball Tournament held in March every year.

This is our big fundraiser event. Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and the biggest, best trophy is the Grandview Lion’s Club Sportsmanship Trophy. Every team competes equally for this recognition; which is awarded to the team that best demonstrates their ability to play with class, character and determination throughout the entire tournament; regardless of the scoreboard. Players, coaches, parents, family and fans are included in the consideration of this prestigious award. Tournament officials and referees confer throughout the competition to identify those teams including their devoted followers that are considered first class organizations. The GV Lion’s Club wishes to promote the idea that winning does count; but is secondary to mutual respect, decency and positive behavior. We like to emphasize to the coaches and parents to be aware and sensitive to the fact that these children are under a lot of pressure to perform well as they strive to succeed for themselves, their teammates, coaches and family.

*Each spring, the Lion’s Club selects a deserving GVISD High School Senior that is chosen to receive a scholarship designated for payment of their college tuition. Last year, the scholarship amount was $750.00.

* Grandview Veteran’s Memorial Park

GV Lion’s give financial support to maintain our Memorial Park in order to pay respect to those Military Personnel that serve and have served our great Country and to honor the memory of those gone before us.

* Deb Tribble Memorial “Ride for Pride"

This bicycle ride and fundraiser is hosted by the GV Chamber of Commerce to benefit the GV Volunteer Fire Department. Our Lion’s Club hosts a check point refreshment stand.

* Lion’s Club schedules a community beautification project each year.

* We give yearly financial assistance to the following organizations:

GVISD Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to offset expenses of the Fall Fair

Salvation Army Angel Tree to provide necessities and gifts to underprivileged children

Lions World Services for the Blind which provides quality services to visually impaired and/or blind people

Texas Lion’s Camp at Kerrville, Texas which is a wonderful summer program benefitting handicapped and challenged children
