THE GUAM SUNSHINE LIONS CLUB

The Guam Sunshine Lions Club was chartered on January 20, 1997.  "Caring for the Sick and the Elderly" was chosen as the primary service project and since then the majority of club activities has focused on serving the needs of the sick and the elderly in our community.  However, the club also participates in projects that address needs in the areas of: Hunger Relief, Diabetes, Pediatric Cancer, Environment, Vision, Disaster Relief, Youth, and others.

Noteworthy achievements include the acqusition of a $90,000 paratransit van which was donated to Catholic Social Services Agency to provide transportation services to  the senior citizens enrolled in the agency's adult day care center and to other senior citizens around the island.

The Guam Sunshine Lions Club is the parent club of  the Un Guinaiya Branch Club.  Branch clubs have a minimum of 5 members and may have projects different from those of the parent club; they may charter as a regular Lions Club when their membership increases to 20 members. The Guam Sunshine Lions Club was also the parent club of the Guam Tano-Ta Lions Club, chartered in May 2019.

In the spirit of fostering international friendship, peace, and understanding, the club has twinned with the Okayama Asahi Lions Club of Japan (2002) and the Iloilo Executive Club of the Philippines (2004).

On March 15, 2019, the club was selected for  the 2019 EXEMPLARY SERVICE PROVIDER AWARD by the Guam Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers during their Awards Banquet at the Westin.
