SERVICE ACTIVITIES AND AREAS OF SUPPORT
Vision Screening:
Each year, we screen the vision of all the kindergarten children in the four elementary schools in our service area.
People Power:
We provide assistance to the Highland Games in Haliburton, the Canada Day celebrations in West Guilford, the Agricultural Fair in Wilberforce and the Santa Claus Parade in Haliburton and Wilberforce.
Haliburton Santa Claus Parade:
We spearhead the construction of a fabulous Santa Claus float for the annual night time parade. We also collect non-perishable food items and cash donations for the 4-C’s food bank along the parade route.
Coats for Kids:
We help a local citizen’s group with this annual project wherein good quality used coats are collected, dry-cleaned and then given free to needy people within the community.
Good Food Box:
We are the administrators of the Good Food Box which provides nutritious food to families across the Haliburton County once a month.
Partnership with Highland Festival Singers:
The Ontario Trillium Foundation gave a grant to the Haliburton & District Lions Club and the Highland Festival Singers to provide an 18-piece Chamber Orchestra, 4 professional soloists plus their accommodations and meals to provide a performance of Handels’ Messiah on November 26th and November 27th 2011 at St. George’s Anglican Church in Haliburton to celebrate the Highlands Festival Singers’ 20th Anniversary.
BBQ’s For Fund Raisers:
We run BBQ’s at the Haliburton Highland Games, Arts & Craft Festival and Colourfest as fund raisers.
