Meetings

Welcome to Ilminster & District Lions - Serving the local community.

Please explore our website and check out our Facebook page.
Please see our fund raising page for our recent activities.

Lions Community Services activities can range from a donation to a school for books and/or equipment, helping to count the money the morning after Carnival Night, assisting an individual with a problem, to a large donation to a hospital for a piece of equipment. We are also frequently asked to loan a wheelchair or zimmer frame when needed. Often manpower is required, perhaps to park cars at events or running the mulled wine stall when the Christmas  Lights are switched on at the Victorian Evening. This provides us with the welcome opportunity to meet the local people who give us such great support.

Each year the President of The Lions Club of Ilminster and District can choose a charity to support during his/her term of Office. This year, the Lion President, Shirley Farley, has selected two charities this year, Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service is a registered charity that provides a free out-of-hours motorcycle courier service to hospitals in the South West of England and South West Ambulance Trust. The other chosen charity is the Beacon Centre @ Musgrove Hospital, Taunton.

Over the last few years, Parkinson's Research, The Children's Hospice SouthwestThe Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and more recently The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Baby Basics South West have been among the chosen charities. The donations usually go to buy specific pieces of important equipment in consultation with the charity.

These donations and the work undertaken by Ilminster Lions could not take place without the generosity and support of our local community. So Ilminster Lions sincerely thank all those who give so generously and would ask for your continued support.
