Meetings

Welcome to the Website of the Lions Club of Johnsonville

But who are the Johnsonville Lions?

We are a community-based club of friendly ordinary men and women, who take pride in doing extraordinary things together.  We enjoy each other’s company and have lots of fun together.

Our own Lions Club here in Johnsonville was formed over 50 years ago (and we're still here, so we must be doing something right!).  Since inception we have made many significant community contributions simply too numerous to list here.  Our recent focus has been on fundraising (in partnership with other Lions Clubs) to build a “playscape” healing playground at the new Wellington Children’s Hospital, and supporting the funding of internal equipment.  We are also the primary community group running the Johnsonville Charitable Trust Lions Christmas Parade each year.

Lions Clubs are an international organisation of some 1.4 million people in over 200 countries.  We are recognised as a trusted “brand” that opens many doors, significantly enhancing our effectiveness.

Our members are all volunteers.  We all contribute to the aims and projects of our club as best we can.  There is no compulsion or “must do’s”.  Collectively though, everybody’s contribution adds up to achieve our goals.

The Nuts and Bolts of Membership

We encourage community-minded citizens to join our Club.  We invite you attend a Club meeting and possibly a club project as a “taster” of what membership offers you.

Club meetings

We meet 6:00 – 8:30 on the first and third Mondays of each month in the restaurant of the Johnsonville Club at the top of Noman Lane

What’s in it for me?

Membership of our club provides a vehicle for you to meet other community minded people, to make new friends, and to generate a sense of achievement in assisting the community in a way that you could not achieve alone.

We provide world-class leadership training opportunities and the opportunity to lead projects to enhance our community.

We are a safe club to belong to.  We are respective of all, a-political, and non-religious.

What’s the Cost?

Basic to all Lions Clubs, is that all money raised from the public is returned to the public.  Thus, the administrative cost of running our club is met in-full by our members.  Our membership dues are $72.50 twice a year, plus we belong to the Johnsonville Club Inc (where we meet) at an annual cost of $25.  Additionally, almost all members choose to partake in a catered meal at our bi-monthly meetings (an optional cost currently $15.00 on first and third Mondays).
