The Kalamazoo Westside Lions Club working on a service project in Bronson Park.

Our club was chartered on May 15th, 2002.  We currently have 36 members.  We are a part of District 11 B-2 which encompasses southwest Michigan (Van Buren, Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties).

We help support:  Leader Dog for the Blind, Michigan EyeBank, Lions Club International Foundation, Sightfirst, Lions of Michigan Service Foundation, All State Band, Diabetes Foundation, JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation),  Bear Lake Camp and Kowalski's KidSight.

We purchase eyglasses and hearing aids, and help with cataract surgery, for people who are in need, and live in zip code 49009.  If you live in a different zip code, you may look up the lions club in your area on the internet.  Non U.S. citizens must contact their country of origin.  An application form needs to be filled out to determine need.  Please contact Bill Dill (phone 269-427-7869), or email donniedill@yahoo.com), for a form. (The forms cannot be emailed, but will be sent in the mail.) If you are approved, we will pay $70.00 towards the purchase of eyeglasses.

We are not federally funded, and have limited funds.  The eyeglasses that we collect go to help people in third world countries. Please put used hearing aids in our eyeglass boxes.  We are also accepting cell phones and chargers.  Please click on our Club Projects page to see where our eyeglass boxes are located.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 8th at 9:00 a.m., at the Blue Dolphin Restaurant.

We will be meeting on Monday, February 13th at 1:00 at Lion Marilyn's house to put together flower bouquets to be sold as a fundraiser for Valentine's Day.

We frequently get calls from people needing transportation to medical appointments.  We will provide transportation if it involves eyes, or hearing aids.  For all other medical transportation, you can contact the Shepherd's Center at 383-1122, who offer this service.

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
