WHAT IS THE LION SCHOLARSHIP? 

 
The Lion Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance to a graduating Keystone High School senior who resides in the Keystone School District. The successful candidate must demonstrate qualities of scholarship, community service, participation in school activities, and leadership, and expressed financial need.  The Knox Lions Club Board of Directors, and/or its designee shall administer the annual Scholarship(s) and determine the amount of the award(s).  The award for the 2019 Lions Scholarship is established at $1000.00.  There will be two scholarships offered this year.

The Lion Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance to a graduating Keystone High School Graduate who is attending the Career Center and resides in the Keystone School District.  The successful candidate must demonstrate qualities of scholarship, community service, work experience and participation in school activities, and expressed financial need.  The Knox Lions Club Board of Directors and/or its designee shall administer the annual Scholarship(s) and determine the amount of the award(s).  The award for 2019 Lions Scholarship is established at $1000.

 
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
 
Any high school senior who:
 
1. Graduates from Keystone School District/Career Center as a member of the 2019 class.
2. Has attained a minimum cumulative grade average of 90% on a 100% scale for grades 9-12. (Career Center: 85%-100% scale grades 10-12)
3. Is committed to continuing his/her education at an accredited institution of higher education.
 
 
GENERAL INFORMATION
 
1. The Lions Club will utilize the following criteria for awarding scholarships:
Scholarship (Percentage average & SAT/ACT scores)
Community Service
School Activities
Leadership
Student essay evaluation
Need
 
2. The scholarship may be used at any institution of higher education of the recipient’s choice.
 
3. Scholarship can be used for tuition, room and board, books, laboratory fees, and other academic costs.   Funds may not be used for personal expenses.
 
4. Scholarship checks will be sent directly to the Financial Aid Offices of the institutions involved, after the successful completion of the student's first semester. Students must submit a copy of his/her first semester grades for verification of successful academic standing to the address listed below.
 
5. Copies of high school transcript must be attached, including SAT/ACT scores.
 
6. A minimum of 3 letters of recommendation are required from individuals familiar with your accomplishments and qualificationsWe recommend these include a teacher, a sponsor of an activity in which you participate, and someone who has supervised you at work or in a community service activity.
 
7. The application must be completed in its entirety before any offer of an award will be considered. All applications must be post marked by the date established by the committee and mailed via first class mail.
