Meetings

Chartered in 1922, the La Crosse Lions Club and La Crosse Lions Charities (a 501.c.3 corp.) have served the La Crosse Community with volunteer workers, financial assistance, and good citizenship to promote a positive spirit, good government, and an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of our community.

The La Crosse Lions meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  Our meetings include social time, a dinner, a guest speaker, announcements and other business, along with fun and fellowship.  Members pay semi-annual dues of $35.00 with family memberships costing $25.00 more per additional family member.  Members also pay for their meals at the meetings.

This past year over 3,000 children in La Crosse Schools and Day Care Centers had their vision tested by the Lions.  Nearly 9% were referred for an eye exam based on the results of the screening.  Identifying vision problems early in life will enhance a childs educational experience.  If you would like the Lions to do vision screening for your school, day care or organization please contact us.  We will be starting a new cycle of vision screening soon.

The Lions provide six $400 scholarships each year, two each for students from each of the three    La Crosse High School who attend Viterbo University, Western Technical College and The University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.  We recognized the recipients at a special dinner in September.

These are just two of the many community services provided by the La Crosse Lions.

La Crosse Lions Charities is a 501.c.3 organization.  If you would like to donate to support the work of the Lions your donation is tax deductible.  We were voted as the #1 organization to partner with by the Financial Times as we use 100% of donated funds for our charitable work. We never take a percentage for overhead, marketing or operations.  You can feel great by supporting our charitable projects with a donation to the Lions Charities.  Thank you very much.

Lions International

Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief - to serve their community.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. We have 1.45 million members in more than 45,000 clubs in more than 208 countries and geographic areas.

It has been recognized as the number one non-governmental organization in the world by the Financial Times for the way we handle our finances. 100% of all donations go toward our service activities. The Lions also have a four star rating, the highest, by Charity Evaluator.

Lions have a dynamic history. Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects - including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry, providing support and educational materials for diabetes, helping fight childhood cancer, supporting youth activities, and aiding seniors and the disabled.

Lions give sight. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. We have extended our commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through our international SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness.

Lions serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools through scholarships, giving away books to promote literacy, and recreation and mentoring.  Internationally, we offer many programs, including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange and Lions Quest.

Our Leo Program provides the youth of the world with an opportunity for personal development through volunteering. There are approximately 144,000 Leos and 5,700 Leo clubs in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Lions award grants. Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world. LCIF was also ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a 2007 study by The Financial Times.

Lions help during disasters. Together, our Foundation and Lions are helping communities following natural disasters by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies – and aiding in long-term reconstruction.

Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve." Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities.  Where there is a Need, there is a Lion.
