Lagos Achievers Lions Club was chartered on March 19, 1999 following preparatory meetings which commenced the previous year. The club's charter was sponsored by Lagos Ikoyi Lions Club, then the largest club in the district.

In the early days, the club which was populated by young, visionary, vibrant and successful young professionals introduced a unique brand of dynamism to Lions activities. HIV/AIDS was the topical issue at the time and the club significantly grew awareness of the scourge through aggressive and colourful road shows, partnership with leading transportation companies to air videos and distribute leaflets, seminars and symposiums at secondary and tertiary schools and sponsoring publications of relevant literature. The club also donated screening kits to a couple of hospitals in the metropolis including the leading Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). The ethos established in the beginning remains to this day.

Lagos Achievers Lions Club is very family friendly. From inception the club has always attracted couples as members and our children have always accompanied us to our projects and other activities. It is certainly the right berth for a couple who seek to serve their community as a unit whilst practically transferring the values of volunteerism to their children.

The club currently serves communities in the Southwest Ikoyi and Obalende community in Lagos. We work to develop the potential of the youth in the community through regular eye screening to ensure they do well in school, upgrade of school infrastructure such as desks, chairs and emphasis on WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) through provision of water systems.  We also undertake a programme of periodic feeding of the poor & vulnerable in the area.
