 LAKELAND LIONS CLUB

The Lakeland Lions Club is one of the largest Lions Clubs in Western Tennessee and a great supporter of our community.  Lakeland Lions not only support the National and International Lions projects aimed at blindness prevention, assistance for the blind, and disaster relief, but also are of significant importance to our local community.

Lakeland Lions provide monetary and volunteer support to all our local schools and local sight oriented education institutions.  This is a total of 14 different learning centers and includes almost every local public school a Lakeland child could attend.

We volunteer at, sponsor and/or fund nine Lakeland city events.  These include the Christmas parade, Christmas party, two Movie Nights on the lawn, Bike Rodeo, Golf Tournament, Fishing Rodeo, an Easter Egg Hunt and anything else the city needs.

We have built two park pavilions and provided play equipment for several playgrounds.  At the International Harvester Park clubhouse we replaced the floor and funded needed repairs.  And more.

The Lakeland Lions Club has been officially and publicly recognized by the Shelby County School Board and City of Lakeland officials for the depth and breadth of their support to the Lakeland and Shelby County communities.

The Lakeland Lions meet twice a month.  On the first Saturday of the month we have a 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting at Stonebridge Golf Club and a buffet dinner meeting at Club Windward on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The main source of revenue to fund our activities is Pecan Sales throughout the holiday season.  This begins the first of November and ends after New Years.  You may support the Lakeland Lions activities by purchasing our pecans at the Lakeland Kroger, Trustmark Bank, Lakeland Cleaners, other local businesses, many area banks and from the members.  If you own a local business and would like to support the Lions activities by selling pecans on our behalf, please contact us.

You are invited to consider being a member of the Lakeland Lions by attending one of our meetings and learning more about our civic organization.  To visit, or learn more, contact Membership Chairperson Bert Faller at (901) 386-0894 or current President Calvin Sammons (901) 213-1955.

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
