Lions and Community Involvement

Our club is committed to supporting Lions-sponsored charitable ventures, including

Eyeglass Recycling Center of Texas:
Used eyeglasses are collected by Lions and other volunteers and are recycled at the Center where they are cleaned, repaired and classified by prescription. The eyeglasses are then distributed to those in need by Lion volunteers and other organizations hosting optical missions in developing countries.

  Texas Lions Camp:
A Haven for children with diabetes and other disabilities. It is located in Kerrville, Texas, and is supported by donations from all Texas Lions Clubs, as well as individual commitments. Any child with a disability may be considered for attendance, when sponsored by a Lion.

  Texas Lions Foundation:
ormed by and for the Lions Clubs of Texas in order to provide grants for Humanitarian Disaster Relief Purposes. Funds for these grants come from Lions and Lions Clubs in Texas who have made voluntary contributions to the Texas Lions Foundation as well as fund raising activities.

  Lions Eye Bank of Texas:
non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation of sight through collecting, processing and distributing human ocular tissue for corneal transplant surgery, prosthetic enhancement and valuable medical research. The organization also sponsors educational programs for the medical community and general public.

  International Lions Foundation:
A global charitable arm of Lions International, providing grants to Lions Clubs to enable them to answer needs in their communities. Last year alone, LCIF disbursed grants in excess of $16.7 million to Lions Districts around the world.

  Leader Dogs for the Blind:
One of the best-known service activities of Lions. Leader Dogs have been trained since the founding of the school in 1939. Lions have helped spread the word that blind people who want to be free and mobile can have a Leader Dog for the asking.

Lions World Service for Blind:
A school for the blind and visually impaired with a goal to provide functional independence to its students. LWSB is located in Little Rock, Arkansas.

  Fundraising Projects:
The Livingston Lions Club also participates in the following fund-raising projects: Golf Tournament, Christmas Tree Sales, Lion Mint Sales, Fall Fund-Raiser, and White Cane Days.
