What Exactly Does The Lopez Lions Club Do?

Ongoing projects:

  • Sponsor/coordinate the July 4th Parade and Fun Run
  • Sponsor the Lions Club Christmas Ship stop on Lopez
  • Sponsor/coordinate 5 blood drives each year
  • Finance/coordinate the annual restocking of Hummel Lake with triploid trout
  • Conduct annual White Cane Drive to collect donations for NW Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing
  • Provide twice weekly transport of trash/recycling from Thrift Shop to Lopez Transfer Station
  • Provide scholarship grants to Family Resource Center’s ‘Lopez Kids Summer Workshops’
  • Provide scholarship grants to Lopez School international travel and enrichment programs
  • Provide financial assistance toward eye exams and glasses for local youth and elderly
  • Collect eyeglasses for recycling/reuse
  • Produce annual Community Birthday Calendar
  • Sponsor/coordinate Firearms Safety and Hunter Education course
  • Provide year round emergency phone at Hummel Lake
  • Conduct 2 food drives each year for Lopez Food Bank

  • Provide financial support for stair repair at Blacky Brady Beach
  • Finance and construct entrance sign for Lopez Island Hospice and Home Support
  • Provide scholarship grants to Lopez Seafaring/Voyaging Program
  • Provide financial support to Leader Dogs Program
  • Provide scholarship grants to theatrical skills workshops
  • Provide financial support to Lopez Union Cemetery for building repairs and improvements as well as volunteer help with fence painting
