Manhattan Lions Club 2011 Scholarship Requirements

The Manhattan Lions Club is offering a $1,000.00 general scholarship to a deserving high school student.  They must be a resident of Manhattan Township, or have a mailing address with a Manhattan zip code.  Must also plan to attend a four-year college or university, majoring in a field of choice. 

Scholarship Requirements:

Must write a letter of application to the Manhattan Lions Club, which includes all of the following information:

 

A.               Please begin your application with your personal biography.

 

B.               Mention grade point average along with class rank.  Official transcripts must accompany your application in a school-sealed envelope from the registrar. 

 

C.               All school activities and community involvement, including any volunteer service. 

 

D.              List college or university you plan to attend, with a selected field of major endeavor. 

 

E.               Give reasons why you are entering that field, along with your perceived goals of achievement. 

 

F.             When signing your letter, please list your street address along with your current home phone number. 

 

All applicants will need two letters of recommendation to accompany your application for the scholarship. 

 

The completed application, including letters of recommendation must be submitted to your guidance counselor or PPS department no later than Wednesday, May 4 to be considered by the selection committee.  Lions Club officials will notify a winner shortly thereafter.

Another Scholarship Opportunity

 

Illinois Lions District 1-B also has four $500.00 scholarships.  These undergraduate scholarships are for students entering or in the process of completing a degree in special education, preferably, but not limited to education of children with vision and/or hearing impairment.  Applications are available through the high schools or by contacting any Lions club.  Please tell your friends, neighbors, and relatives about this opportunity.
