The Marble Falls Noon Lions Club has kicked off its 18th Annual Warm Coat Drive.

Especially appreciated will be donations of coats from the public for children (infants to 10 yrs) and of gloves.

The Lions typically distribute about 600 coats per season at no cost to deserving families. You may leave no longer wanted coats, gloves and warm clothing in special boxes at the entrances of the following places until Nov. 18: HEB, Canyon Cleaners, Wal-Mart, First Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, the Meadowlakes entry gate, Arrowhead Bank of Horseshoe Bay, Victory Cleaners, Blockbusters, Lowe’s, Colt Elementary and Marble Falls Elementary, Middle School and High School. Other locations for the marked boxes may be set up as well.

Distribution of coats will begin on Nov. 17, 18, and 19 at the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge, 319 Avenue G from 3 to 6 p.m. each day. The Lions expressed gratitude for the use of the Masonic lodge for distribution and Canyon Cleaners for cleaning and repair of coats with no charge to add to the success of the program.

Also participating is Rural Opportunities Providing Encouragement. The ROPE program us adding caps to the collection.

“Thanks also for the merchant collection locations and the generous public that donates coats and money to buy some of the new coats that are distributed,” said Lion Monte Kruse.
