What's it Worth?
Sunday 12th October 2014

Our antiques valuation event was well attended on Sunday 12th October.  It was the second time we had run the event which this time was held in the central location of Harborough Theatre lounge. John Gilding and Tim Thornton kindly acted as the experts and people flocked from as far as Wellingborough to see if their items were worth a small fortune!

It was an enjoyable afternoon and we raised £230 for Lions Charities.

Message in a Bottle

Harborough TWENTY 12 Lions Club spent two full days at the Market Harborough Medical Centre on the 3rd and 10th of October when the Centre was carrying out the flu jabs for seniors.

The Lions had a desk in the Foyer with all the M.I.A.B posters etc. and during the two days they gave out a total of 1,245 bottles. As most of the patients were in couples the Lions explained one bottle could be used for two people and as a result they believe they accommodated over 2,000 patients with the facility.

There was no intention to use it as a money raising event, but much to their surprise people were insistent on giving small donations, and these totalled £218 over the two days.

Sports and Fun Day July 2012

Harborough Twenty 12 Lions Club hosted the Sports & Fun Day in Welland Park three weeks before the Olympics.  12 Primary schools each selected a country to represent for the day and were presented with the flag by Martin Johnson, international Rugby player whilst the anthem for their chosen country was played.  There were three medal presentations for different age groups during the day and there were taster sessions and a large fairground.  Sports ambassadors from Robert Smyth Academy and Welland Park College organised the various sports activities and it was a great day with a fantastic atmosphere.  The Lions received a Runner Up School and Community Partnership Award at  Learning South Leicestershire School Sport Celebration event 2012.
