The Chicago Mayfair Lions Club has been actively serving the Mayfair community of Chicago, Illinois since 1947 and is the proud home of 2003-2004 Council Chair and District Governor Lion Georg G. Toft.
Mayfair Lion David Hansen is now one of the two District 1-A Trustees to the Lions of Illinois Foundation of MD-1 for the years 2009-2011. Lion Dave has now stepped up to the plate and is running for the office of 2nd Vice District Governor for the year 211-2012.
The Mayfair Lions Club was organized on October 16, 1947 and received its charter on January 16, 1948 with 106 members. The club was sponsored by the Jefferson Park Lions Club.
Over the years, the Club has sponsored three (3) Lions Clubs: Pan American, Edgebrook and most recently, the Chicago Windy City Lions Club, the first Cyber Club in MD-1! The Club also sponsored the first Lioness club in District 1-A which went on to serve the Mayfair Community for 23 years along side the Lions Club.
Club members have gone on to serve District and MD-1 in many capacities, District Chairs, Zone Chairs, Region Chairs, PR Chairs, MERLOW Committee members involving Orientation and Women and Family Membership Chairs.
The club publishes a monthly newsletter, the "Mayfair Monarch Memo" which is sent out to all club members, district officials, area businesses and the PR Department of LCI.
