Canalfest, Merrickville's annual outdoor salute to the Rideau Canal takes place this August Long Weekend, Saturday, July 30 to Monday, August 1. Scheduled festivities at Blockhouse Park include ongoing live musical entertainment, a three-day craft show and sale featuring over 25 crafters- and a a pack of alpacas! - a model boat "show and sail," Voyageur Canoe Races, Merrickville Lions Barbecue, and loads of children's activities, such as the always popular Loonie Fishing Derby, free face painting, and Merrickville's own "Bug Lady" and her "Suitcase in a Museum".
